2010 NATIONAL AUSTAFE Conference – CALL FOR PAPERS

29/7/2010

2010 AUSTAFE Conference – Call for Papers
Leadership, Innovation and Workplace Culture

Organised and sponsored by the TAFE NSW Managers Association
Citigate Central Sydney, NSW
Thursday, 14 – Friday, 15 October 2010
Welcome Reception - 13 October 2010

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE AND THE THEME
Leadership has re-emerged as a critical concept for TAFE managers in an era where change is the onlyconstant.
The AUSTAFE Conference 2010 provides an opportunity for educational managers to identify and to develop the leadership capability they need in the context of global climate change, financial turbulence, and changing demand for skills driven by economic, industry, commercial, political and social developments.
Innovation is a critical factor for high performing organisations which are faced with new competitive pressures, shifts in technology and economic change. They need to remain competitive and attractive to their customers; vocational education and training organisations need to innovate and continuously improve, by exploring and seizing opportunities with emerging technology, computer applications products, processes and new media.

Workplace culture is emerging as an important focus and factor for vocational education and training organisations. The prevailing ideas, beliefs, attitudes and behaviours of staff increasingly influence workplace dynamics and, in turn, the nature of vocational education and training products and services.
Evidence is emerging in vocational education and training organisations about the importance of established and changing ethos, ethics and ecology of the workplaces and the need to align more effectively with commercial imperatives, contestability, community values and industry needs.
