AUSTAFE Conference 2014 - Pod-Cast Presentations
The 2014 AUSTAFE Conference was held at Darling Harbour on the 8th, 9th and 10th of October.
What a fantastic event!
Not only was the location and venue (Maritime Museum) absolutely stunning, the whole program was outstanding for its currency and relevance to TAFE in Australia in 2014 and beyond.
Delegates from all around Australia got to hear first-hand accounts of the changing nature of VET in Australia. This included up-date reports on those States that have already implemented their Competitive Skill reforms such as Victoria, South Australia and Queensland and those in the middle of doing so, as is the case with New South Wales.
The Conference was not all about the ‘doom and gloom’ of the negative impact on TAFE but we got to hear some fantastic speakers on what TAFE is doing that puts them at the cutting edge of responsiveness and flexibility. We got to hear what is happening in International Vocational Training and we got to hear from several great speakers on strategies that TAFE could implement that would demonstrate innovation and action in VET Delivery and ensure TAFE as the provider of choice.
The attached link provides access to a number of pod-casts of the first day speakers and will be followed up with more information over coming weeks.

"The New TAFE"
The theme and the title of the 2014 AUSTAFE National Conference reflect TAFEs’ experience of significant changes and reforms throughout Australia.
It is an important time for TAFE, within the broader VET sector, to be really clear about the value we create for individuals, industry, our regions and the economy.
Like any successful organisation, TAFE needs to renew and reshape its business to stay relevant to the current and future skill needs of our customers, both employers and students.
The 2014 AUSTAFE National Conference will focus on opportunities for embracing new ways of working.
