AUSTAFE represents a national network of managers of VET and exerts national leadership in support of its members. Membership is open to managers of VET, as well as State and Territory Authorities.

AUSTAFE is the Professional Association of TAFE Managers.
In the multifaceted structure of 21st century TAFE Institutes around Australia, ‘TAFE Manager’ is broadly defined as any TAFE staff member with management responsibilities.
This could be the management of;

• Delivery programs (Head Lecturer, Program Coordinator, Team Leader)
• Staff ( Head of School, PVC, VC, Quality, Teaching and Learning Support groups, Finance and Asset Services, Student Administration, Corporate Services)

The greatest strength and purpose of AUSTAFE is ‘Networking’ TAFE peers across State and Territory borders. The annual National Conference is the most important facilitation event of this purpose.

AUSTAFE distributes a regular newsletter to all members. The newsletter is distributed electronically courtesy of TDA to member's email address which members provide at the time of joining the organisation.

AUSTAFE members are entitled to considerable discounts on conference, event and function fees.

AUSTAFE members are eligible to be nominated or apply for executive shadowing, leadership awards and membership of the national executive.
